Bahamas - Castaway Cay

The Bahamas is a well known playground and the British Colonial Hilton hotel in the capital Nassau provides elegant accommodation downtown. The beach front hotel has 291 rooms and welcomes guests on Caribbean vacation packages. The hotel has much to offer, including a private beach, heated swimming pool with sun deck and health spa. There is a live music lounge and a jazz and R&B club. Diners can relax in an open-air restaurant and there is a pool bar. The hotel interior is beautifully designed with colonial furniture and visitors are greeted in a marble lobby. Bathrooms have tubs and stall showers and all rooms contain television with cable, pay for movies and video game consoles. The hotel also caters for business people and rooms have high-speed Internet access for their convenience. Guests on this Caribbean vacation package have complimentary use of snorkel equipment and kayaks.

If you take a Disney Cruise Vacation then you will end up going to their private island called Castaway Cay which is located in the Bahamas.  This is an ideal place where you will feel like you are on some desisted island spending the day with a bunch of friends.

One of the first things you will get to do is visit their post office which is only open for cruise visits.  You will be able to send a post card back to yourself just to prove you were there but don't be in a rush because everything on this island moves on Bahamian time...relaxed that is.

Castaway Cay offers many activities that your whole family can take in.  You are greeted by a beautiful beach dotted with lounge chairs under palm trees and umbrellas but beware that to get a chair you better get there early.

There is a beautiful lagoon where you can spend the day snorkeling in the warm waters and there's no need to bring along snorkle gear because you can get fins, mask, snorkel and float vest for a nominal fee (everyone is required to wear a vest).  With your gear on head to the lagoon and take your time as you float in the water looking for all of the tropical fish that hang out here.  While you are looking for fish you will have a chance to search for treasures buried on the ocean floor.  There are a bunch of Disney characters and other items set on the ocean floor and with your map in hand you can try to find every one.

If you are the sailor type then you can head to another cove down the beach and take out a Hobie Cat for a sail around the bay.  If you have never sailed before then you won't be allowed to take out a boat.

When you get hungry head out to the outdoors restaurant where you will be served a fantastic BBQ meal by the wait staff from your ship.  The eating area has a roof enclosure to shade you while you take a break but there are no sides so you will be cooled by the warm gentle ocean breeze.

In short this is an amazing place to spend a day, it's just too bad you can't stay longer!
